United to seal deal for player better than Di Maria last season.
Manchester United look close to keeping hold of Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Ashley Young this summer as the England winger seems set to sign a new contract with the club, according to talkSPORT.
The Red Devils will be in need of wide-players next season amid rumours that Paris Saint-Germain have bid for Angel Di Maria and hope to land the Argentine attacker soon, according to the Guardian.
Young has just one year left on his current contract with United, and a report from the Independent suggested Spurs could try their luck with a move for the 30-year-old, who may have been a cheaper alternative to Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie.

There’s no doubt the former Aston Villa man could have been a decent addition for the north London outfit, who could do with more in the attacking midfield area after poor performances from the likes of Erik Lamela, Aaron Lennon and Andros Townsend last season.
Young, meanwhile, regained his best form in many years after being a surprise inclusion in Louis van Gaal’s side, first playing in a new role at left-back or left-sided wing-back, but also managing to keep Angel Di Maria out of the team towards the end of the season in a more attack-minded midfield role.
The player’s improved form for the Reds looks to have earned him a new deal as he remains a key part of the first-team for the new season.
