Man United set to complete £45.9m transfer: Attacker flies to US ahead of medical

Man United winger Angel di Maria is set to complete his long awaited move to PSG according to the London Evening Standard.

The 27-year-old failed to impress in his debut season at Old Trafford and the good form shown by Juan Mata and Ashley Young, as well as the arrival of Memphis Depay this summer, could well spell the end of the Argentine’s brief spell at Man United.

The London Evening Standard claim di Maria is flying out to PSG’s training base in New Jersey and will undergo a medical ahead of a £45.9m move to the Ligue 1 title holders.

Di Maria cost Man United a British record £59.7m (via BBC Sport) and the Argentine international arrived at Man United having helped Real Madrid to a Champions League triumph as well as guiding his national team to the 2014 World Cup finals.

Though Angel di Maria arrived as an in-form player it was clear that the attacker was struggling to adapt to life in the Premier League and his Manchester home being burgled (via the Daily Mail) is said to have unsettled the player’s family.

Man United boss Louis van Gaal is said to retain an interest in PSG forward Edinson Cavani (via talkSPORT) and some reports had suggested that a swap deal that would see di Maria move in the opposite direction had been prevalent.

The London Evening Standard claims that a straight cash deal is set to go ahead and will see Laurent Blanc bring in a hugely experienced winger who will look to revive his career at the Parc des Princes side.
