Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke this summer, and will reportedly keep on spending with two more players lined up in a £64m double deal.

The Reds have already spent big money on the likes of Roberto Firmino and Danny Ings so far in this transfer window, and Benteke’s move to Anfield looks all but complete with the player set for a medical today.

Still, with plenty of money received from the sale of Raheem Sterling this summer, Brendan Rodgers is dead set on bringing in big quality to the club ahead of the new season, with two potentially world class additions lined up:

1) Mario Gotze (Bayern Munich)

Linked with a stunning £49m move to Liverpool, Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Mario Gotze could be a superb replacement for Sterling, and the German international would be a record-breaking buy in terms of becoming the Reds’ most costly signing, and the most expensive German player ever, eclipsing Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.
