Goodison Park side set sights on Old Trafford defender.
Man United defender Jonny Evans is set to join Everton according to Goal.com.
Man United boss Louis van Gaal has had a busy summer thus far and has offloaded a number of his Old Trafford squad to make room for talented new additions.
Robin van Persie and Nani have left for Turkish giants Fenerbahce and Tom Cleverley has joined Everton and according to Goal.com the Toffees are close to bringing in another Man United star.
27-year-old Northern Irish international Evans fell down Louis van Gaal’s pecking order during 2014/15 and is considered surplus to requirements at Old Trafford (via ESPN).
Evans made just 12 Premier League starts in 2014/15, fewer than Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo.
Goal.com suggest that Everton’s interest in Evans is in direct relation to Chelsea’s continued pursuit of Toffees defender John Stones.

Evans has completed nine seasons in the Man United first team set-up and whilst his defensive commitment could not be faulted it’s fair to say the Belfast born battler lacks finesse.
Last term Evans was handed a six match ban for spitting at Newcastle United’s Papiss Cisse (via the FA.com) and hasn’t started a Man United fixture since.
