Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keen to bringing striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the club this summer as he looks to strengthen his options in attack ahead of the new season.
According to reports in Germany [via Metro Sport] the Gunners boss is a huge admirer of the Gabon international and is set to table a stunning offer of £31.4 million to secure the services of the 26-year-old.
It remains to be seen whether or not that bid would be enough to entice Borussia Dortmund into selling one of their key players from last season and the report adds that the club’s sporting director Michael Zorc has insisted the pacy striker is not for sale and that is likely to mean Wenger will have to turn his attentions elsewhere.
Aubameyang, who has also been linked with a move to fellow Barclays Premier League outfit Liverpool [via Mirror Sport], was one of a few Dortmund players that emerged with any credit in a difficult season for the club as they struggled at home and abroad in the first half of the season particularly.
The forward struck 16 goals and registered six assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances and also scored the opener in the German Cup final against Wolfsburg, however he was unable to prevent Die Borussen from crashing to a 3-1 defeat in Jurgen Klopp’s final game in charge of the club.
His performances suggest he will be a key player for BVB in the upcoming campaign and it would be of no surprise if they fight tooth and nail to keep hold of one of their prized assets.
