Manchester City star Samir Nasri has revealed secret talks over joining Manchester United during his time as an Arsenal player, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The French international met with former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson in a hotel in Paris for talks over a shock move to Old Trafford, though this never materialised.
Nasri later joined City instead, but could have been representing the red half of Manchester, though he rejected Ferguson’s orders to ‘go to war with Arsene Wenger’.
“We met with Sir Alex in Paris, in a hidden place, out of sight, so as not to fuel the rumours,” Nasri said.
“But there was one thing that was a problem; I was asked to go to war with Arsenal to be able to join. I could not see myself doing it, especially with Arsene Wenger.”
