Chelsea star John Obi Mikel could be set to leave the club for Fenerbahce, reports the Daily Express.

Nani has already completed a move to the Turkish side from Manchester United, and his former teammate Robin van Persie could join him by the weekend, the Express add. The Blues ace may be about to follow them as he has little chance of getting much game time at Stamford Bridge next season.

Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas, and Ramires are all ahead of him in the pecking order for the West London outfit. Moreover, 19-year-old Ruben Loftus-Cheek may move ahead of him next season after manager Jose Mourinho promised the youngster more minutes in the next campaign [The Independent].

The Nigeria international made 26 appearances last time round, but only 13 of them were in the starting XI. With Inter Milan also interested in the midfielder according to the Daily Mail, it seems a matter of when, and not if, the player leaves Stamford Bridge.

However, if the player does depart then Chelsea may need to sign a replacement. With the West London outfit expected to challenge on four fronts next season they will need as many bodies as they can get in their squad. A player who has the experience of winning it all could be vital even if he rarely plays, with Mikel playing a part in two title wins and victories in the Champions League and FA Cup since joining the club all the way back in 2006.
