El Confidencial, cited by the Express, state that Pep Guardiola wants to damage the Red Devils’ hopes of landing the Spain centre-back by requesting a meeting with his former La Liga foe to determine if reports of his desire to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer aren’t fabricated.
The Spanish newspaper claim that if the 29-year-old confirms his wish of a transfer ahead of the 2015-16 campaign, the Bundesliga giants will submit a formal offer for his signature.
It was reported on Thursday [via the Daily Star], that Louis van Gaal wants Ramos and Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi to be the new centre-back partnership at Old Trafford – in what could be a much-changed United back-line next season.
As the Ramos saga continues to drag on, however, it seems the Premier League giants could be set for an intense battle with the Bavarians for the former Sevilla star – who could cost as much as a whopping £65m [via the Daily Mail].
