Alderweireld spent last season on loan at the Saints and impressed many with his solid defensive displays which led the club to a seventh-placed finish and helped them to qualify for the Europa League.
The St Mary’s outfit were keen on signing the 26-year-old on a permanent deal [via Sky Sports], but the player has decided to make the move to North London and will link-up with his international teammates in Jan Vertonghen, Moussa Dembele and Nacer Chadli.
The former Ajax man is Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino’s third defensive signing of the transfer window, following the arrivals of Kevin Wimmer and Kieran Trippier.
