Man United have reportedly launched a stunning €140m (£99.5m) bid for Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale according to Spanish sources quoted in the Metro.

Such a bid would eclipse the world record £86m fee the Spanish giants paid Tottenham for the Welsh international two years ago, and one imagines that such an offer would prove too tempting for the La Liga side to turn down.

Man United close to completing MASSIVE £63m signing, personal terms agreed and deal ‘on the cards’
Bale has a superb debut season at Real Madrid, notching up 22 goals in all competitions and playing a key role in their Champions League title triumph, however the 25-year-old failed to hit the same heights in 2014/15 and became something of a scapegoat for the failures that ultimately led to the sacking of manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Given that Bale’s lifelong idol is a certain Ryan Giggs, the possibility of moving to Man United could represent something of a dream scenario for the talented attacker, so perhaps a summer move back to the Premier League isn’t out of the question.
