Chelsea striker linked with Besiktas switch
The Blues have agreed a £6.3 million fee for the 19-year-old with the investment company which bought his rights from the Brazilian side last month. The youngster was in London on Tuesday night to have a medical, and he looks set to move to the Stamford Bridge outfit on a five-year deal.
The teenager will be the second young Brazilian to sign for them this summer, after Nathan joined from Atletico Paranaense in May [official site].
Kenedy plays on the left, and has scored five goals in 40 appearances over the last two years. The wide-man has also netted once in seven games for Brazil Under 20s, but is yet to be considered for a senior call up. As such it is unlikely that he will be playing in Jose Mourinho’s first team any time soon, where Eden Hazard currently occupies the left-wing.
The Brazilian is expected to join Vitesse Arnhem on loan when he completes his move to West London, and won’t be the only Blues ace at the Dutch club. Isaiah Brown and the earlier mentioned Nathan are both expected to be going to the Eredivisie side as well [Daily Star]. Chelsea’s link with Vitesse is well known, and they sent three players on loan there for the last campaign as well [Daily Mail].
As such it will take a while to see if Kenedy is to become another of the youngsters Chelsea buy and then sell on, such as Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku, or if he is going to make an impact in their first team squad.
