Manchester United transfers: Reds could LOSE world class star for ONLY £35m
Tottenham star confirms departure for club record transfer fee; another ‘Bale money’ signing leaves White Hart Lane
Following the sales of Etienne Capoue to Watford [BBC Sport] and Paulinho to Guangzhou Evergrande, another flop could soon be heading for the exit door.
Like the two aforementioned players, Soldado was brought to the club in the summer of 2013 as the Lillywhites sought to reinvest the money received from Real Madrid for the sale of Gareth Bale.
However, despite arriving at White Hart Lane able to boast of a fine scoring record in La Liga, the forward has been wholly unable to thrive in the Premier League.
The 30-year-old managed just one goal in 24 EPL outings this season, which represented a decline on the previous season, when he contributed a hardly impressive tally of six goals and five assists in 28 Premier League showings.
Mundo Deportivo suggest that the CEO of Villarreal, Fernando Roig Nogueroles, has been in contact with the player’s representatives and see Soldado as an ideal solution to their quest for a centre-forward.
It remains to be seen, however, how much Spurs would want for the player, who cost them €30 million only two campaigns ago.
