Barcelona midfielder Alex Song is expected to complete a return to West Ham United this week after talks progressed over a permanent move for the former Arsenal star, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Cameroon ace spent last season on loan at Upton Park, impressing as part of Sam Allardyce’s side, and it looks like new Hammers boss Slaven Bilic wants him at the club as well.
Song previously starred in England with Arsenal for the early part of his career, before his fine form earned him a big move to Barcelona in the summer of 2012.
However, the 27-year-old has since struggled for playing time, with opportunities clearly limited at the Nou Camp due to the presence of so many other big names in the midfield department, including Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets, and previously others like Xavi and Cesc Fabregas.
Still, Song would no doubt make a good buy for a team like West Ham, and the Mirror claims a deal could be announced this week as it seems the player has pushed through a return to London, where he is supposedly keen to be living after spending much of his career in the English capital.
Song’s form for West Ham last season helped the club to a 12th place finish in the Premier League.
