Montoya has signed a loan deal for the the 2015-16 season, with an option to make the deal permanent next summer.
He had his medical yesterday, and all the necessary paperwork has now been completed, according to inter.it.
He has won nine trophies during his short career so far, including three La Liga titles, two Copa del Reys, a Champions League, and a Euro U-21 Championship with Spain.
He made his debut for Barcelona in 2011 and went on to make 43 appearances for the Catalan club, scoring one goal.
He has represented Spain at every youth level, but is yet to win a senior cap. He will hope his move to Italy will reignite both his domestic and international career.
He will be presented to the media and the fans in the coming days.
