Chelsea have opened talks with their Brazilian midfielder Ramires this summer over a new contract at Stamford Bridge to fight off interest from other top clubs.

The 28-year-old has not been as much of a regular for the Blues in recent times, falling behind Nemanja Matic in the pecking order in 2014/15 and becoming a rumoured transfer target for the likes of Juventus.

However, according to the Daily Telegraph, manager Jose Mourinho is keen to keep Ramires as part of his first-team squad as he likes his versatility and work-rate.

Ramires joined Chelsea from Benfica for £18m back in 2010 and has generally been a reliable performer for the club, and keeping him in West London could prove as good a move as any they make this summer.
