Football Italia understand that the capital club—who secured a return to the Champions League following a second-placed finish in Serie A—are prepared to offer Serbia international Adem Ljajic as part of the deal.
The talented 23-year-old midfielder was formerly on the books of Partizan Belgrade and Fiorentina, before moving to Rome in 2013.
The international joined the Giallorossi in 2013, signing a four-year contract with Rudi Garcia’s side, however, he hasn’t always shone this season, despite managing eight goals and two assists in 32 Serie A outings.
However, while Ljajic may be heading to the Etihad Stadium, Dzeko looks to be heading in the other direction.
According to Sky Sports Italia [via Football Italia], Walter Sabatini, the club’s sporting director, has asked Roma representatives to look into the possibility of signing the Bosnia striker.
The Italian source understand that Dzeko is valued at €24 million, but while Roma appear keen of securing a deal, they may face competition from Liverpool.
The Reds are also reportedly keen on the 29-year-old, who would bring much-needed goal-scoring prowess to a forward line that has lost its verve since the departure of Luis Suarez.
In May, the Daily Mail reported that the Merseyside outfit are keen to add Dzeko to their growing list of summer transfers, with James Milner, Danny Ings and Adam Bogdan.
Chelsea have also been linked to the forward [Daily Star], with Jose Mourinho considering him a potential replacement for Loic Remy, who has been linked with a move to West Ham United [Independent].
Dzeko managed four goals in 22 Premier League outings last season, contributing two assists.
