Manchester United join Arsenal in race to sign La Liga star
This is after the Red Devils have given up on signing Real Madrid star Gareth Bale. Los Blancos have reportedly claimed that the Welshman is going to be staying at the Bernabeu. This has left Kane as the main target for United, which could mean trouble for Spurs.
The 21-year-old scored 32 goals in 53 appearances for the North London side last season, and was the story of the campaign as they finished fifth in the Premier League. As such manager Mauricio Pochettino will surely be loath to lose the striker, especially as his backups Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor haven’t impressed at White Hart Lane.
United are certainly in need of a striker after the end of his loan period at Old Trafford. Robin van Persie showed the signs of his 31 years while scoring just ten goals last season, and 19-year-old James Wilson doesn’t appear to be trusted by his manager. This has left just captain Wayne Rooney as the reliable option up front. Kane could take some of the pressure off the England skipper as well as allow the 29-year-old to feature more in the number 10 role that suits him well.
