The 19-year-old broke in to the Boeren’s first team in the 2013/14 season, making 16 appearances and scoring three goals. However, in the last campaign he was dropped to the Dutch side’s youth team after refusing to sign a new contract.
Now that his deal at the Philips Stadion is ending the winger could move on for free and get away from the tricky situation he is in.
This has alerted the Gunners, who are known for their willingness to take risks on younger players. With the wide man having not played first team football for 12 months it is likely that any move would be similar to the Arsene Wenger’s signing Krystian Bielik last January. The Polish midfielder hasn’t played for the first team since then, but is expected to make an impact in the future.
If Wenger signs the teenager he will have to pay a compensation fee to the Dutch club because of his young age. However, this should only cost around £750,000, which should be easy to pay for a side which paid £35 million for Alexis Sanchez according to the BBC.
Should the north London outfit sign Bakkali they will be getting an exciting winger who isn’t afraid of taking on his man.
The Belgian has made one appearance for his country, and is most at home on the right wing. This is very similar to teammate Memphis Depay, who recently agreed to play for Manchester United next season according to the Daily Mirror.
Arsenal’s potential signing is similar to the Netherlands star, with pace and dribbling also key parts of his game .
