While the Red Devils’ season may have ended with the joy of a return to the Champions League, following a fourth-placed finish in the Premier League, there are doubts surrounding the futures of several of the side’s key players.
Flop Radamel Falcao has already left the club to return to AS Monaco [via ManUtd.com], while Angel Di Maria has been linked to the exit door—with Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich both keen on the Argentine winger [via The Independent].
However, the key departure may be David De Gea, who is believed to be on his way to Real Madrid—a prospect openly acknowledged by Louis van Gaal [via Sky Sports].
One man who will surely be hoping that De Gea remains at Old Trafford is his compatriot Juan Mata, who has spoken gushingly about the superstar stopper in an interview on United’s official website.
“He has a lot of talents as a goalkeeper but his calmness in any situation is what makes him special,” Mata began.
”For me he was the best during the season–I’m very happy for him that he won the two trophies [at the Player of the Year awards]–he’s done it two years in a row now and it’s well deserved.”
The Spanish international featured 37 times last season for the Red Devils, only missing the final game of the season through injury.
