21 year old Vietto, who old joined Villarreal from Argentine giants Racing Club last summer, has rapidly emerged as one of the Yellow Submarine’s best players.
Villarreal managed to snap him up for £5.5 million in August, but it’s thought he would cost Liverpool at least twice that amount. Fox Sports claim he would likely cost nearer to £20 million.
He has made 31 appearances for Villarreal this season, scoring 12 goals. His natural position is a striker, but he can play anywhere in a front three.
He has not yet been capped for the Argentine national side, though he does have four caps at U-20 level, along with two goals.
Villarreal are set to play a post-season friendly in Australia against Adelaide FC next week – a game in which Mexican brothers Jonathan and Giovani dos Santos will both play after the Mexican FA allowed them to skip Mexico’s friendly against Guatamala on Friday.
