The Red Devils are supposedly ready to part ways with Robin van Persie as part of the deal to bring Strootman to Old Trafford, with Louis van Gaal known to be a big admirer of his fellow Dutchman.

The 25-year-old has been a key performer for Roma since joining the club from PSV last season, and has also impressed van Gaal during their time together with the Netherlands national team.

According to Spanish source Fichajes.net, United are now keen to try again to sign Strootman this summer as they keep an eye out for potential new additions to their midfield options.

Van Persie has not been at his best this season and it is little surprise that he is being used as a makeweight in this deal, while Roma could do with a little more up front.
