According to The Sun, the thought of working alongside his hero in Manchester could be key in swaying the former Tottenham Hotspur man towards swapping the Santiago Bernabeu for the Theatre of Dreams.
Described as a ‘secret weapon’ – Louis van Gaal is likely to call on Giggs to encourage the world’s most expensive player to make a sensational return to the Premier League and sign on the dotted line at Old Trafford.
The report draws on from the two seasons ago when Bale sealed his move to Los Blancos. Manchester United tried to hijack the move – as they even had a helicopter on hand to fly the then-Spurs forward to their Carrington training ground for a medical – but Giggs didn’t have the level of power he has at present to help seal a deal ahead of the Spanish giants.
Now, however, as assistant manager, the former midfielder’s influence could prove crucial, as rumours on the 25-year-old’s unhappiness in Madrid have intensified ahead of the summer transfer window.
