23 year old Argentine Lamela has proven a major flop since his £30m from AS Roma to White Hart Lane in August 2013 so the idea that Diego Simeone would see the Spurs man as a target is hard to fathom.

Both Chelsea and Bayern Munich are sniffing around Griezmann, who’s been in imperious form since moving to the Vicente Calderon last summer, and Atletico would be powerless to prevent the Frenchman leaving if his £43.5m release clause is triggered.

Lamela has bagged just two goals in 38 Premier League appearances and was one of a host of flops brought in with funds made from the sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.

You’d have to imagine that if Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy gets any chance of recouping a decent percentage of the sum they invested in Lamela then he’d surely he wouldn’t think twice.
