Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is set to play his final Anfield match on Saturday, and Twitter users have been among those paying tribute to the 34-year-old’s career at the Merseyside club.

The midfielder has played over 700 times for the Reds, scoring 183 goals in his 17 year career with the club. As a result it is sure to be an emotional occasion for the Anfield faithful. They are playing against Crystal Palace though, who will bring back some bad memories for their captain.
The Eagles beat them to all but end their title challenge last season. With Gerrard having never won the competition the match will have been especially painful for the former England international.
However, it is unlikely to be mentioned during their match on the weekend, and certainly people are looking at it differently on social media. Some paid tribute, while others saw an opportunity for some ribbing…
