Real Madrid star hopes Ancelotti will stay despite Champions League disaster
Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti has come under pressure following their team crashing out of the Champions League to Juventus. They are also four points behind Barcelona in La Liga with two games left in the season. Current President Florentino Perez has never had a manager stay on after a season without a trophy.
Meanwhile the Citizens have endured a poor campaign under Manuel Pellegrini, failing to challenge Chelsea for the Premier League title and dropping out early in all of the cup competitions. However, he may have some more leeway than Ancelotti with there being lower expectations at the Etihad.
Benitez is looking likely to leave Napoli at the end of the season as his contract ends in June. The Spaniard has had success with Liverpool, Chelsea, and Valencia both domestically and in Europe, making him the perfect appointment for a club competing on several fronts.
