Chelsea’s attempts to sign Atletico Madrid pair Antoine Griezmann and Koke appear to have been rocked as the La Liga outfit are set to offer the two players new contracts with release clauses of £100million, according to reports in The Telegraph.

The newly-crowned Premier League champions had been confident of securing the signature of Griezmann in the summer after taking advice from super-agent Jorge Mendes, but Atletico are determined to hold on to their prized asset.
The Blues are also interested in the forward’s highly-rated team-mate Koke, whose contract reportedly includes a £43m release clause, which would not be a problem for Chelsea given their spending power.
Both clubs are no strangers to each other when it comes to transfer business as the Blues raided their Spanish counterparts last summer for Diego Costa and Felipe Luis, but manager Diego Simeone wants to avoid a repeat this year by inserting huge release clauses to fend off any interest.
