Like the England international, the £25million-rated Dutchman is a big boxing aficionado, and even has a full sized ring set up in his apartment to help keep him fit.
The two players will link up with each other over the summer, and the 21-year-old already thinks he and will get on famously with United’s star striker.
“United have a lot of big players, but I look forward to playing with every player, and, of course, Wayne Rooney,” he said.
“He’s a huge player. Of course, I want to play with him. I’m looking forward to it. And I cannot wait to talk boxing with Wayne. Maybe we will have some fun.”
Depay bagged a stunning farewell goal for PSV over the weekend, and is now targeting a starting berth at Old Trafford, highlighting which position he feels he will make the biggest impact in.
“Left wing of a front three is my strongest position.
“I like that position. The coach Phillip Cocu gave me the freedom to sometimes go in the middle so I can give space for the left-back. But I can also play on the right side or as a No 10.”
Depay also had the chance to sign for French giants Paris Saint Germain, but elected to head to Manchester as he wanted to work with Louis Van Gaal again.
“There are no promises you are going to play in a big club. I have to fight. I like to fight for my place. It’s going to be tough, but I believe in myself.”
