The Gunners are keen to bring in a top quality defensive midfield player for next season after a disappointing campaign this term from the likes of Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere, who have both struggled with injuries and not hit top form when used anyway.
Schneiderlin has long been linked as one of Arsenal’s top targets in that area of the pitch, and it now looks as though Arsene Wenger will follow up initial contact with the Saints with a concrete offer for the 25-year-old, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Having spent big on attacking players like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in recent seasons, this would make another good and ambitious buy from Arsenal as they look to establish themselves as genuine title contenders once again.
