Kovacic has impressed in Serie A so far, looking one of the most promising young midfielders in Europe, and could be closing in on a move to Merseyside for a bargain £17.7m.

According to the Metro, Liverpool look set to fight off interest from the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea for the Croatian international’s signature in what could prove to be a great move.

Inter are seemingly happy to let the 20-year-old leave the San Siro this summer as they themselves grow in confidence in signing Manchester City’s Yaya Toure.
