The Colombian international has been in superb form since joining Porto, scoring 88 goals in the last three seasons to attract interest from a host of bigger clubs around Europe.

Martinez could certainly fit in well at Arsenal given their current striker situation, with doubts remaining over the likes of Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck and their scoring records over the course of a whole season.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the Gunners have now been invited to bid for the talented 28-year-old, with Porto said to be looking at Celta Vigo forward Nolito coming in as his replacement upfront this summer.

It may be that Porto would not want to sell Martinez to Arsenal without having a new striker lined up, but this move brings the north Londoners ever closer to making this quality signing in attack.
