Why we should all want Messi & Ronaldo to face off in an El Clasico Champions League final
Fergie claims that Messi is limited in comparison to Ronaldo, as the Portuguese would be capable of performing at his incredible level at any club in the world – unlike Messi, who he seems convinced could only produce his magic for Barcelona.
The 73-year-old revealed, in a snooker World Championships special on BBC with 1991 Champion John Parrott, that he is constantly asked who he thinks is currently the best player in world football, and had his say on the debate.
“Many people quite rightly say Messi and you cant dispute that opinion,’ as quoted by the Daily Mail.
“Ronaldo could play for Millwall, QPR, Doncaster Rovers, anyone, and score a hat-trick. I’m not sure Messi could do that.
“Ronaldo’s got two feet, he’s quick, great in the air and brave.
“I think Messi is a Barcelona player,” he added.
While Ronaldo can answer yes to the question: ‘Can he do it on a cold night in Stoke?’, Messi is unlikely to spread his domestic football wings outside of the Camp Nou – and it’s this, Sir Alex believes, that is the crucial difference between the star duo.
