The Metro have linked the Red Devils to the 24-year-old, who Bild claim is currently refusing to sign a new deal that would last until 2019 with BVB. The German might be stalling on a new deal because manager Jurgen Klopp has announced that he is leaving the Westfalenstadion at the end of the current campaign.
Even though the Premier League trio are all after his signature, Gundogan could be available relatively cheaply as his contract is ending in just over a year. He has been a key part of the Dortmund side for the last few seasons, and that has been no different this time round. The centre-mid has played 19 times in the Bundesliga since coming back from a serious injury earlier in the campaign.
While the Gunners don’t really look like they need a new central midfielder, the Citizens are much more in need. With Yaya Toure, Fernando, and Fernandinho all looking either out of form or past their best, manager Manuel Pellegrini could need some significant investment if they are going to challenge for the league title again.
