Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal may well be unsatisfied by the efforts shown by Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao this season and as such would do well to bring in a fresh striking option.
Given that Polish international Lewandowski only moved to the Allianz Arena last summer it appears unlikely the Bundesliga table toppers would be considering options for the former Borussia Dortmund man.
26 year old Lewandowski bagged 103 goals in four seasons at the Westafalenstadion before moving to Bayern Munich on a free transfer and has thus far scored 20 goals in all competitions during the current campaign.
With Bayern Munich riding high at the top of the Bundesliga and with hopes of overcoming FC Porto for a spot in the Champions League semi-finals there would appear to be no real motivation for Lewandowski to consider leaving for Man United this summer.
Van Gaal has been indebted to Wayne Rooney as his chief goal-scorer, despite preferring to play the England man in a more withdrawn role.
