Having seen Graziano Pelle go off the boil, the Italian netting just one Premier League goal in 2015, one can well see why boss Ronald Koeman would be keen on Chicharito.
The Saints sold Luke Shaw to Man United in a massive deal last summer and will apparently allow Clyne to make the same move for around £20m, just so long as the 26 year old Mexican moves to St Mary’s.
Hernandez is currently on a season long loan spell at Real Madrid but has barely featured and Louis van Gaal may well be ready to use the player as bait in pursuit of Clyne, the right-back having performed excellently this term, leading to an England call-up.
