Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea made an unfortunate mistake in the early stages of his side’s game at Chelsea, by mistakenly celebrating what he thought was a Red Devils goal.

The Spain international, who has been in inspired form this season, rarely makes errors on the pitch but on this occasion his own eye sight let him down.
Captain Wayne Rooney steered the ball towards goal with only three minutes on the clock, but it ended up missing the target. However, the way in which it deflected behind the goal and brushed the back of the net made de Gea believe his side had taken an early lead at Stamford Bridge.
He turned away in delight before swiftly realising his rather cringe-worthy mistake:
De Gea can take some comfort from the fact that more than 3,000 travelling supporters in the United end also thought that the skipper had put United in front, and they were duly mocked by their Chelsea counterparts.
