The Gunners are keen to bring in more bodies in midfield for next season, with Saints ace Schneiderlin long regarded as one of the club’s main targets in that position.

The in-form French international would likely command a big fee of around £25m, while Milner is possibly set to leave City on a free transfer as his contract expires at the end of this season and he is not yet closer to a renewal.

Still, according to the London Evening Standard, Arsenal would have to offer Milner a four-year contract to persuade him to make the move to the Emirates Stadium, with a stay at City still his priority if he can get a better offer.

Still, the England international is already 29 and would command around £80,000 per week, which may go against Arsenal’s own transfer policy.
