In an off the ball clash, which somehow went unnoticed and thus unpunished by the officials, Real full-back Dani Carvajal appeared to throw a punch at Mario Mandzukic – but on further inspection footage also suggests that the defender bit the striker.
Have a watch of the damning evidence below that could land the 23-year-old in serious retrospective trouble:
Following the game, the Spaniard has taken to Twitter to vehemently deny biting the Atletico forward.
Here’s what he tweeted in response to the accusations:
Viendo después del partido que se me acusa de morder a un jugador rival, quiero dejar claro que no he mordido a nadie, ni intento de ello.
— Dani Carvajal Ramos (@DaniCarvajal92) April 14, 2015
This translates to, ‘Seeing after the match that he accuses me of biting a rival player, I want to make clear that I have not bitten anyone, or attempted to do so.’
