Mendoza suffered the injury during the weekend match against Chiapas which his team won 4-3. Mendoza had to leave the game in the 24th minute, being replaced by Alonso Escoboza. After extensive medical tests to his injury he underwent surgery today and will now definitely miss the matches against Pumas UNAM, Leones Negros, Pachuca and Puebla.
His side Santos are in 10th position with 18 points. They have now two consecutive victories and the team seems to be playing well enough to make it to the play-offs in four weeks. Next week’s opponents Pumas UNAM are also in good form, lying 13th with 17 points. Their 3-1 loss against Pachuca on Sunday ended their impressive four-game winning streak, but they are still only two points behind the top eight.
