This could be specially disappointing for Gunners fans, who have seen several of their top performers go to the Etihad in recent seasons. Samir Nasri, Bacary Sagna, Emmanuel Adebayor, and Kolo Toure have all made the switch since the Citizens were taken over by their oil rich owners. They could now have to watch on as a club legend manages their fierce rivals.
Vieira has been managing the Under 21’s squad for the Sky Blues this campaign, and his work with the youngsters has impressed the club hierarchy. Even so it is unlikely that Pellegrini will be sacked before the end of the season, meaning that the ex-Arsenal man may not be pressed in to action. If they do though, he will be one of the top candidates to take them through until the summer.
