Manchester United are really starting to punish their city neighbours after Chris Smalling headed home and stretch the lead to 4-1. Two goals in quick succession from Juan Mata and now Smalling have signalled the home side’s intent.
Louis van Gaal’s men came into this game as considerable favourites but after Sergio Aguero gave Man City the lead, the champions looked like they were out to make a statement at Old Trafford.
Having won on their last three visits to Man United, Ashley Young and co look determined to stop the rot – and in emphatic fashion.

Man United are set for a sixth consecutive Premier League win but for Man City, serious questions will now be asked of Manuel Pellegrini. The attitude of his team has been unacceptable for a derby and it is difficult to see how the Chilean can turn this around.
The home side have had some luck on their side with offside decisions for a couple of their goals, but the gulf in class on the day would have eventually told.
