Once again the 24-year-old failed to even make the bench for the match at Ewood Park, which Brendan Rodgers’ side won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Philippe Coutinho just 20 minutes from time.
As the Daily Mail reports, Savage lashed out at the player, who has scored just four goals in all competitions so far this season. However, Balotelli has since responded on social media website Instagram – posting a picture of himself with a thermometer.
Balotelli pulled out of the game with Rovers through illness, something he was seemingly attempting to prove with this post.
Liverpool’s win eases the pressure on manager Brendan Rodgers, who has endured back-to-back defeats against Manchester United and Arsenal. The Reds will now face Aston Villa at Wembley a week on Sunday.
