Sterling has been the subject of much transfer speculation recently, having rejected at contract extension at his current club which would have given him a pay increase from £30,000 to £100,000 per week. The legendary son of Anfield believes the flying winger would be much better served simply helping his side win the FA Cup, by first getting past Blackburn in their quarter final replay.
Sterling said in an unauthorised BBC interview that with regards to his future, he wanted to chase his ambitions and Fowler believes if he was to win the premier domestic cup competition with the Reds that it would only be a glimpse of what he could achieve on Merseyside.
The former Red is speaking from experience, having played alongside Ian Rush in the 1996 FA Cup final against Arsenal and believes that once Sterling gets a taste of cup success, he won’t want to leave.
