The Daily Mail report that the Red Devils have refused offers from Asia and Australia, and instead are close to confirming a short tour of the US – most probable the west coast – for just 12 days.
According to the information from the Mail Online, the trip will be done and dusted by August 1 – leaving van Gaal with optimum time to prepare for the new campaign.
The Red Devils will again be taking part in the Internationals Champions Cup, as they look to retain the trophy after beating Liverpool in the final last summer in Miami.
Louis van Gaal wants his side in tip-top condition so the team can hit the ground running – and thus wants a short summer schedule, in an attempt to finally get back to challenging for the Premier League title after failing to do so since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.
The decision will also give Manchester United the upper hand over rivals Manchester City who face a 30,000 mile summer tour of Australia (via the Telegraph).
