In the current 2015 Clausura tournament Burbano is registered as a foreigner, but for the next tournament he will be considered Mexican and will therefore open the door for the arrival of a new foreign player at Tigres. Mexican sides are restricted to five foreign players in their first team squads.
During his early years Burbano was part of Cali’s youth team before making his professional debut in 2008 with Cordoba. He arrived in the Liga MX in 2011 when he joined Club Leon and was a key player for the club in their promotion back to the first division later that year. He went on to help them win the title in the 2013 Apertura before joining Tigres in January 2014.
Since he joined Tigres, Burbano has struggled to find his best form. His lowest point came in the 2014 Apertura final when he was sent off after less than 30 seconds against Club America. Tigres went on to lose 3-1 on aggregate.
