Les Merles are coming towards the end of a tricky season, but there is still a lot to play for.
They currently sit in 17th position in the Ligue 1 table, one place above the relegation zone and only two points ahead of Toulouse in 18th.
Sylvain Ripoll’s side played well-in spells-in their last match against Paris Saint-Germain on Friday evening, but ended up falling to a 3-1 defeat.
That match was one of four French top-flight matches they played in March.
They lost three (defeats to Evian Thonon Gaillard and AS Saint-Etienne as well as the reverse against PSG) but did manage one victory, a 2-1 home triumph against Stade Malherbe Caen on March 14.
Four players have been shortlisted for Lorient’s Player of the Month award, according to the club’s official website.
Ghana forward Jordan Ayew scored twice during March, contributing the winner against Caen and a second-half equaliser against PSG.
Goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte is also listed alongside Vincent Le Goff and Francois Bellugou.
