Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez set for Premier League return

Benitez lifted the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005 after the Reds pulled off an amazing comeback against AC Milan.

Rafael Benitez will leave Napoli when his contract expires in the summer, and make a return to the Premier League, according to former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina, the Daily Star reports.

Benitez, who won the UEFA Champions League during his tenure at Anfield, and the UEFA Europa League in his short-spell at Chelsea, could be returning to England next season.

The Spaniard has a strong relationship with Liverpool, with his family still living in Merseyside, while he manages over in Italy – fuelling speculation that a return to England is inevitable.

With the 54-year-old’s future with Napoli uncertain, as his contract is set to expire in the summer, Pepe Reina, who was signed by Benitez at Liverpool, has weighed in on the future of his former boss.

Reina said: “His idea is to be with his family and they are in England and very happy. “If he has the chance to go back to England, why not?” as quoted by the Daily Star.

The former Reds boss is linked to Manchester City, and could well make a stunning return to the Premier League.
