Eight England debut performances Harry Kane will want to replicate against Lithuania
Harry Kane – The next Alan Shearer, or just a one-season wonder?
The 21-year-old has bagged nineteen goals from just twenty-six appearances in the top flight this campaign for Spurs, and was rewarded for his fine form with his first international call-up ahead of fixtures against the side ranked 94th in the world, and Italy next week. He will have wait slightly longer for his debut however, with Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney and Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck being selected to start ahead of him.
The England boss has gone for experience as he looks to extend his side’s perfect start to their qualifying campaign – which has already seen them win four consecutive games – with the front pair sharing over 130 caps between them.
Hodgson has suggested keeping with a successful formula is the reason why Kane doesn’t start.
