23 year old Austrian Schar has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal’s interest dating back some months, but the Metro claims it’s Sam Allardyce’s side who are set to pull off the capture of the FC Basel man.

The Upton Park side have apparently ‘provisionally’ agreed a £5m deal to sign Schar, a fee that would represent something of a bargain.

West Ham have cemented their standing in the top half of the Premier League table and this coupled with their imminent move to the Olympic stadium could help in the club’s pursuit of top talents.

Arsene Wenger may well have elected to ‘pass’ on Schar given his January capture of Brazilian Gabriel Paulista.
