The Northern Irishman has become famous for using unusual management techniques, and this seems to be the latest example. While Sir Alex Ferguson is known for his ‘hairdryer’ treatment, the Reds boss gets his stars’ mothers to help with pep talks.
This was revealed by loaned out star Joao Teixeira, who is currently at Brighton. He said: “During the title run-in, we had team meetings before we left for the stadium. He used to read out a letter from each player’s mother. Brendan’s not a negative guy he is always positive.”
Liverpool are going to need every bit of motivation they can get from their 42-year-old boss in the next few weeks, after losing to Manchester United on the weekend.
The 1-2 defeat at Anfield means that Liverpool are now five points behind the fourth placed Red Devils with just eight games left in the season.
