The young Austrian international has been hugely impressive this season, having helped secure a return to the Bundesliga for his Koln side last term, and by all accounts Mauricio Pochettino has secured the 22 year old’s services for a bargain fee of just £4.3m.

Pochettino’s side have struggled at the back in a big way during the current campaign, the north London side conceding more goals than any other side in the top half of the table, and a move for Wimmer may help to solidify the Spurs defence.

Tottenham are struggling to secure a top four finish, Pochettino’s side currently sitting in seventh spot, but one imagines that the White Hart Lane outfit may still be able to nab Wimmer regardless of that.

Wimmer move to Koln in an £180k deal back in 2012 and has matured into a very reliable defender.
